Care Leavers Festival 2022 – Day 9
Day 9 of 10
28 November 2022
Change does not happen by accident. It is built — by those who speak up, show up, and refuse to be ignored. Day 9 explored what it takes to move governments, systems, and society toward a future that works for care leavers.
About This Day
Day 9 focused on exploring the ways change can be enacted, with particular reference to the role of government officials and the critical importance of listening to the voices of young people. The day featured speakers from Zimbabwe, New Zealand, and Egypt — three very different contexts, one shared message: young people must be heard.
🇿🇼
Zimbabwe — Policy and youth advocacy in residential care systems
🇳🇿
New Zealand — Government responsibility and youth participation in reform
🇪🇬
Egypt — Building voice and representation for care-experienced communities
