A collective declaration created by care-experienced young people across the world, identifying urgent gaps and calling for stronger systems, rights, and support.
Around 100 young people with care experience from over 25 countries came together on June 6, 2020, to explore the challenges faced by care leavers globally and to discuss how the COVID-19 outbreak intensified those vulnerabilities.
After two months of consultative discussions with experts, a declaration was drafted identifying eleven domains of gaps and offering recommendations specific to the issues affecting children and youth from alternative care settings globally.
The declaration was endorsed by care leaver networks from across the world and has since been promoted by a range of national and international agencies as a shared advocacy tool.
The Declaration protects and advances the domains and recommendations care leavers have identified over time. Join us in sharing and strengthening this advocacy for lasting change.
